Champagne For Your Wedding - Tips

Good day to you! As a first time visitor, we'd like to welcome you to Champagne Toff.

Choosing a champagne for your wedding is often an overlooked element of the planning with many couples opting for the house champagne. Depending if thats the local country pub or a manor house that could be two very different tipples.

Each case though you’ll end up spending a considerable amount on champagne for your wedding, if you opt for the standard 2 glasses per guest.

Our tip is to order in smaller champagne flutes! and remember quite a number of non educated folk do not care for champagne so you can offer an alternative, say pimms and this will help your budget whilst keeping the toffs content!

Mumm Champagne and their Lightweight Bottle

So ladies and gents, its appears that the bods at Pernod Ricard feel it necesary to alter the weight of the chapagne bottle.  Their new bottle which has undergone a trial weighs 835g rather than the traditional 900g.

The benefit per truck is reported to be 4000 extra bottles, not bad considering the crazy fuel costs and duties… however my friends will this affect the prestige of the wine with a ‘cheaper’ ‘lighter’ bottle? or will consumers give a monkeys?

Vintage Champagnes beat FTSE drop and Rise 27% in 12 Months

Love Champagne? Hate the FTSE? Then invest in Champagne my fellow toffs!

Frederick Jordan our FA introduced us to the London based Liv-ex Champagne 25 Index a few years ago. They track the price of 25 of the world’s most sought-after Champagnes.

Those 25 champagnes rose by 27 per cent in the 12 months ending in June. That’s in comparison to a 8% jump in fine Bordeaux and the ghastly 14.8 per cent drop in the FTSE 100 during that very same period.

This drastic rise in value is related to not only the fast pace in which fine vintages are drunk but the bling factor. Champagne is loved by the worlds glamorous football wives, Russian billionaires and celebrities across the globe.

It’s also being fuelled by the huge rise in sales in Asia.

So ladies and gents sell up those FTSE shares and invest in our favourite tipple.

Disclaimer: we don’t offer financial advice so if it all goes wrong you only have yourself (or Frederick in our case) to blame!
